Education
I learnt how to build and implement software development practices for both web and software applications. The 3 languages focused on were: Java, Javscript and C# (.Net). I also took on the extra work to learn Python. I additionally learned both MySQL and MongoDB as our 2 types of data managing and storing tools.
Work & Experience
As an Outsystems developer, my main priorities were to complete tasks for building new functionality and improving existing software. I am a stand in for the support developers, where we work on any bugs or issues that are logged for our apps. Additional to this role I took on 2 more roles, Associate RPA developer and Interim Scrum Master. As an RPA developer I was detailed to shadow and assist in the support of our automations and bots. As the Interim Scrum master, I was charged with maintaining the teams efficiency and hosting the various Scrum Cee
As a Junior Software Developer, my role entailed implementing new functionality, fixing bugs and resolving issues with our Invoicing app. In addition to this I would be involved with the planning of apps, such as voting on the time and estimation for each dev task on our various projects, as well as taking time to refactor and improve on our previous work.
I took on a project to better my web development skills, which ultimately allowed me to enter a fulltime role as a Junior Software Developer at Stratusolve. This mainly entailed designing and building the data structure, business logic and frontend of an app that we used to integrate into our Trello board, allowing us to all make a vote on ticket estimations.
As an Intern then Junior Software Engineer, I started with a 3 month training course, where I learnt how to use OpenEdge and 4GLE to build and maintain our many projects. I moved to Regression where I learned Java and Groovy to build scripts that would automate our regression and allow us to constantly monitor and test our software daily. I also took on the role as JIRA Admin, eventually this became my sole responsibility. This role entailed managing our boards and projects, managing users and access roles. I also made use of my developer skills to build plug ins that would aid the Scrum masters and CSMs in their reporting, saving them hours. I also implemented APIs so that we could scrape certain data and form integration apps for various uses.
