About Candidate

My name is Qaqambile Nkosiyane and I am an Educator by profession. I have a Degree in Batchelor of Arts with Majors in English, Anthropology, and Sociology after which I went to study for the Post Graduate Certificate in Education Majoring in teaching English and History. After completing the PGCE I went to study and complete an Honors Degree in Language and Literacy from the University of the Western Cape. I am currently in my second year of studying towards a Batchelor of Laws Degree from the University of South Africa.

I have worked as an English And History Educator at Wallacedene Secondary School since 2011 where I have served under a number of portfolios. I was the secretary of the SGB from 2017 until 2019 where some of my responsibilities included secretariat functions to this body. This position included me planning and organizing events including detailed coordination of events, general and committee meetings, and workshops, as well as being responsible for the agendas, minutes, and catering during meetings. I further would participate in attending to and drafting correspondence, invitations to SGB functions and interviews, and processing and reviewing information and materials that concerned the functioning of the school community. This also meant I dealt with the annual financial requirements of the school by means of the annual budget as was part of the team that allocated funds to the different committees in the school. Due to the sensitivity of financial issues, this meant I have had experience in securing sensitive information securely.

I have further served as the chairperson of the sports committee at the school from 2014 until 2016.  As the chairperson of this body, I played a role in the determination of the committee’s annual sports budget. This meant the projections of funds that each sporting code would need for the year and escalating the requests to the SGB as well as accounting by means of filling receipts of the funds to the School governing body as and when required. This is a role that meant I had to attend sports meetings as a representative of the school as well as arrange travel arrangements for the learner’s educators and parents when they had to attend sporting events. This was also where I played a pivotal role in planning sporting events like inter houses but not only at the school but at the zonal sports meetings as well which would include athletics, soccer, cricket, and netball tournaments. During these tournaments, we would have to organize things like catering and medical treatment for the students in case of the students have been injured. This body was also responsible for accounting for the school’s sports equipment annually like kits amongst other things.

I was further elected as the Head of the Schools disciplinary body from 2015 until 2018 which amongst other things was responsible for the screening of applicants. It was further tasked with the development of maintaining systems of discipline and order at the school by means of formulating the school’s code of conduct. As the chairperson, I would be the one responsible for chairing disciplinary committee meetings as well as chairing disciplinary hearings between the school and the students and parents. This role also gave me experience in terms of filing the sanctions that were handed down during the hearings so that they can be used for future transgressions and consultations.

Due to the amount of work involved in teaching in a High School environment, this has made me very much suitable and allows me to say I am very much suitable for working under pressure. I am currently undertaking my studies towards a Batchelor of Laws degree from UNISA which I believe suits me well for this position as there are some legal aspects involved in it.

I enjoy a challenge and although I can work alone, I can also work as a team, which is one reason why I want to apply to your company.

I have attached my resume for your perusal. Feel free to call me at 073 3824 377 or send me an email at qaqambilen@gmail.com. Thank you for your time and consideration. I would be thrilled to be a part of your team and I look forward to speaking with you soon.

Sincerely,

Qaqambile Nkosiyane
